Nawl is an Arabic word that means “loom”. It symbolizes the cultural richness of our Arab heritage. We have chosen to be called after a tool for weaving fabric, as a metaphor for showing the detailed and intricate process of creating a story or film. And the hoopoe, with its beauty and elegance, serves as our brand identity, symbolizing our commitment to creating visually captivating and aesthetically pleasing projects.
At Nawl, we draw each detail with great care, weaving them together to tell stories that are as visually pleasing as the feathers of a hoopoe, and as cohesive and interconnected as a woven fabric.
Why Nawl?
We have a simple origin story. We both studied film at Tel Aviv University, but it wasn't until after graduation that we met on a film set. That was a few years ago, and since then, we've collaborated on a variety of international projects, specializing in films, music videos, and advertisements.
Recently, we've joined forces to establish our own independent production boutique, based in Amsterdam and Haifa. This is due in part to our enjoyment of working together and our ability to stimulate each other creatively. But more than that, it's because we have a unique perspective on the world and out of a box approach to storytelling. Our aim is to create stories that touch our hearts and perhaps leave a mark inside of us.
